Have your ever toyed with the idea of learning how to fly an airplane? Regardless of if your desire is to fly for fun with friends and family, or if you have ambitions to eventually progress to a professional career in aviation, I am here to help. Researching the requirements to become a pilot can sometime be a confusing and daunting task, not seldom leaving one with the sense of the accomplishment being an insurmountable endeavor, thus allowing it to wither away. For this specific reason I am now offering a free sitdown/consultation to discuss your specific ambitions and flight training needs.
Most flight schools and instructors will claim to fast track your training, however, without foresight you will almost certainly find yourself with your training completed yet
waiting endlessly for a checkride date. A more efficient approach is to monitor the training progress throughout the course to be able to assess and predict an end date, and pre-schedule a checkride
with an examiner prior to completion.
A fast track PPL course will require a great deal of discipline on the part of the applicant. It usually involves flying at least 5-7 lessons per week, with daily ground studies/instruction in
between. In theory, it can be completed in as little as 4 weeks. However, that is somewhat unrealistic in practice, and 8 weeks is a more reasonable time frame.
The FAA mandates a minimum of 40 hours (part 61) of flight training to qualify for a PPL, however, again that is somewhat of an unrealistic number. The ever growing list of implements in the name of
enhancing aviation safety has over the years increased the amount of knowledge and skill required for the license – even on the private level. The minimum mandated amount of flight training hours
required has not seen the equivalent inflation.
So, unless you find yourself doing your training in Bozeman, Montana or the like, the expected average flight training required will likely be in the 75 hours region. Especially when doing flight
training in southern California, primarily due to the complexity of airspace and volume of air traffic in the area.
However, it’s not all bad though!
If you are able to successfully obtain you PPL after doing your training in SoCal, you are guaranteed to feel supremely confident whenever flying anywhere else in the entire world.
If you can fly in SoCal, you can fly anywhere!
With every day commitments, it can be hard to find the time required to complete a flight training program.. My schedule is flexible, and I am able to fly virtually any time of the day, 7 days a week, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. A not unreasonable time frame, if flying twice a week, is completion in 6-8 months.
Did you know that you can complete a PPL having never flown a single hour during daylight hours? The FAA mandates a minimum of 3 hours of night time flight training for the issuance of a PPL, however, there is no upper limit. Furthermore there are measures in place to allow for initial solo flight to be conducted during night time hours. So, this mind there are no excuses if your schedule prevents you from flight training during daylight hours. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for further information and availability.
